Acknowledged as the principal organised form of Astronism, the Institution, as it is commonly known, possesses a governmental structure split between the Office of the Padron, the Council of Governorship, and the Council of Kinship. In Astronism’s founding text, the Omnidoxy, Cometan explicitly confers the proprietorship of Astronism to the Institution. In practice, this involves the Institution’s use of resources to disseminate Astronism, to manage the acceptance of new concepts into the organised philosophy, to determine Astronist orthodoxy and heterodoxy, to hold the copyright of Cometan’s works, as well as to have its own specific denomination recognised in countries around the world. Its policies and the Astronist beliefs and practices that it emphasises, or are unique to it, are often referred to as Institutionalism.
